About Robert E. O'Connor, Esquire

I’ve been a resident of Nether Providence since 1969, having moved here at the age of 3.  As a child I attended St. John Chrysostom.  In 1983, I graduated from the last class of Nether Providence High School.  In 1988, I graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  In 1996, I graduated from Widener University with dual JD/MBA Degrees.  Later that year, I married Charlotte and together we had a daughter, Ana, in 1998, a daughter, Amara, in 2000 and a son, Luke, in 2001.

In 1997 I opened my own law office and I also ran for Commissioner for the first time.  I won that year, and I have won every election thereafter.  I am running for re-election in 2017 so that I can continue the great work and tremendous constituent service that I always provide, utilizing every Township and government resource available in order to satisfy constituents concerns.  Over the past couple of decades, I have participated in many improvements to the Township, some of which include the following:

  • - Vigilant oversight, management and stewardship of township tax dollars, including prudent
  •    management of pension obligations and township finances;
  • - Hiring of the best personnel that any municipality could hope to have;
  • - First commissioner to use email distribution list to communicate with constituents and
  •    residents;
  • - Vast improvements in facilities, equipment, fields and resources for NPAA;
  • - Upgraded police staffing, equipment and training;
  • - Purchase of multiple fire rescue vehicles for both GCFC and SMFC, together with
  •    complete renovation of both firehouses;
  • - Renovation of the HKF Library;
  • - Modernization of township equipment and computer technology, including our Township
  •   website and video technology so that the Township meetings can be better viewed and
  •    heard by our television audience;
  • - Addition of new and improved vehicles and equipment for our township highway department;
  • - Acquisition of open space and extensive improvements of township parks and recreation
  •    equipment;
  • - Purchase of the Summit School from WSSD;
  • - Adoption of a Megan’s Law Ordinance;
  • - Extensive efforts to combat and reduce speeding throughout the township;
  • - Institution of NPPD bike patrol;
  • - Establishment and funding of sidewalk committee so as to increase walkability throughout the
  •   Township; and,
  • - Township redistricting from 6 to 7 wards;

 Having grown up in NP and having been a resident here for nearly 50 years, it’s a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to serve the residents of the Township.  I thoroughly enjoy working with and helping all of the residents to solve problems for them.  I ask for your support and your vote so that I may continue to serve the residents of the Township.

 On a personal note, when I am not practicing law or performing commissioner work, I enjoy spending time with my family and I also enjoy playing and coaching ice hockey.
